Lie to Me Plot analysis

The core screenwriting content of LIE TO ME is based on Ekman's papers and research results, there is no doubt. Ekman may have taken a sigh of relief himself, so in the play, it is common to use mediocre people to attack Lightman's "kung fu" is pseudo-science, through these mentally retarded attacks, Lightman is portrayed as a god.
From the perspective of scientific researchers, there are still many flaws in the play. For example, the first episode of the first season is actually a very exciting episode, very shocking, but there are also very low-level mistakes. Two major points are as follows:
First, at the beginning of the article, if the suspect who dropped the bomb was interrogated in China, the suspect would not have the expression of raising his upper lip, or shaking one shoulder, at most it was just the eyeballs.
Second, when Lightman tried to stimulate the location of the real bomb, the expression of the suspect was considered SCORN (contempt) because of the upper lip lift. But this judgment is too partial. It is only based on the prisoner’s upper lip and the nasolabial folds that produce a contemptuous judgment. However, he did not notice that the eyebrows are tight and the distance between the upper edge of the eyelid and the eyebrows is very short. , The expression form of the upper half of the face plus the lower half of the face is an X shape, which is actually a typical anger.
From the theoretical point of view of emotional expression, the stimulus information is "the bomb is placed on A," and the test showed contempt (SCORN). In any case, it cannot be concluded that A is the real location. For example, if I say "Marxism was invented by Mao Zedong", every Chinese with conventional education will be very contemptuous, because the expression of contempt is "negative." According to the logic of [Contempt=Negative], the judgment in the play will not work (I believe many people don't understand after seeing it, why did SCORN guess it right?).
The correct judgment logic should be that the stimulus information is "the bomb is placed on A," and the test is angry, so it can be concluded that A is the real place. Because anger stems from threats, it triggers the desire to attack. The A-point information that the stimulus guessed threatened him to drop the bomb (may fail, he would be found guilty), resulting in anger. This is the correct judgment logic.
There is also a wonderful section in the first episode. When Lightman tested the kid who was suspected of murdering the teacher, he first asked about the best running results, so that the test was recalled and observed the reaction (eyeball movement); the feeling of running thighs, let The test recalls and observes the reaction (eyeball movement). These two questions are stress-free problems and can be used to determine the baseline of the tested habit (eyeballs turn to the left when recalling); ask the police to run when caught When the testee had no recollection, he could judge that he was obviously lying. Therefore, this process is very exciting. There are methods for establishing a baseline, a combination of questions, and the correct logic for judging lies based on changes that violate the baseline. It is very good. But even so, there is still a fatal loophole in the play: normal people's eyeballs will not turn to the extreme sideways when recalling, and normal people generally turn to a quarter of the horizontal width of their eyes. Of course, this extreme rotation may also be required by the lens language, but it is indeed not a regular performance in actual tests.
Therefore, LIE TO ME is only a TV series with technical content, which can popularize knowledge, but it must not be used as a reference for scientific research, or even mechanically.
