Licence to Kill background creation

After the fifteenth 007 movie "Life at Dawn" was released, the filmmakers began to discuss the idea of the next 007 adventure movie. The producer returned to Ian Fleming's novel for inspiration. In order to maintain the timeliness of the film, the producer created a big drug lord-like villain from the headlines of the newspaper, and the number one villain in the original book became his accomplice.
The original script of the film was a story about China, but it failed due to various reasons. Leaving the familiar British Pinewood studio and heading to Mexico seemed like a last resort. Richard Mabel and Mike Wilson began to redesign a new story to meet the needs of filming in Mexico. When creating the script, the two used the model of the film "Band with Heart" directed by the Japanese film master Akira Kurosawa to complete the whole story. In order to allow 007 to infiltrate the villain’s organization, Mike Wilson decided to position James Bond as a resigned agent. At that time, because the American Writers Association started a strike, which affected the creation of Richard Meibao, Mike Wilson had to provoke the mainstay of the script creation alone. With the completion of the script, the casting work also began in Los Angeles, the United States. American actors Robert David and Carly Lowe were chosen to play the villains and Bond girls, respectively. And actor David Hidson, who played the role of CIA agent Philip in " Live and Let Die " 16 years ago , was hired to perform the same role. After the casting work was over, the crew went from the UK to Mexico.
On June 18, 1988, at the Churubasco studio in Mexico, the sixteenth 007 movie "License to Kill" was officially started, and Mexico City had just experienced an earthquake before that. On August 1, the crew moved to Key West, Florida, USA. In Xiyu, the crew completed the shooting of aerial stunts, parachuting stunts and underwater stunts. Among them, Timothy Dutton himself completed some difficult and dangerous moves, while David Hidson broke his leg while shooting a skydiving shot, which made him lame throughout the movie. From August 8th to 17th, 1988, the 007 crew came to West Gap, Florida, USA to shoot. On August 25, the crew returned to Mexico to continue filming. After returning to Mexico, the crew faced an unexpected crisis. Due to Mexico’s thin and heavily polluted air, producer Corby fell ill. He returned to the UK for treatment and he could not continue to supervise the filming of the film in Mexico. From October 25th to 31st, 1988, the crew came to Arabesque, Mexico to complete the filming work.
