The main characters of "L'Annee Derniere a Marienbad" did not appear until 15 minutes after the beginning of the film, completely abandoning the character and even individual-centered theatrical structure of Hollywood. This is not just an innovation in film techniques in a pure sense, but more importantly. Movies are embodied by literary elements and mental control. Many actions of the heroine in the film are unclear, making it difficult for the audience to understand. In many cases, the actions and reactions of the characters make it impossible for the audience to directly understand their motives and goals. At the same time, whether the theme of love exists in the film is even more questionable. Although the film starts from the first dialogue scene, it is full of the illusion of the hero's love for the heroine, but the expression of this feeling is always difficult to break through the dialogue and reach a new level. The atmosphere created by the whole film makes the audience not only rely on the protagonist's large-scale narration and persuasion, but also clearly expresses that these dialogues and words are difficult to connect with the love theme on the surface of the film. Dialogue and voice-over are no longer limited to the meaning of the text itself, but a tool for the pursuit of literary picture expression.
