The story takes place in contemporary Los Angeles. The lonely young actor Mia's ambition is to be an actress and playwright. She is obsessed with old movie stars. She works as a barista on the set of Warner Bros. and often skips work to audition. If she does receive a play, even the small role will make her ecstatic. Sebastian is a jazz pianist who wears a silk tie, and has a close-hygienic pursuit of art.
