In 1988, the 55-year-old Luca had been sacked by the Czech Symphony Orchestra and had undertaken the work of playing the cello at the funeral and repairing the tombstone. He owed many debts to others. The local gravedigger Broz persuaded him to marry a fake couple with Najezda, a young Russian woman, so that she could get the much-needed Czech ID card, and Luca could get a considerable amount of money. Soon, Najezda disappeared. She went to West Germany to meet her lover, leaving her five-year-old son Kolya to live with his grandmother. But the child's grandmother fell ill and died soon, and Corlia was taken care of by his "father" Luca. At first, the "father and son" didn't fit together. Kolya didn't speak Czech at all, and Luka didn't speak Russian well. Although Coria hinders Luca's love life, Luca can only take him in and live together in his simple apartment. He took his "son" to attend the funeral together, and he took his "son" to visit his mother. At this time, the police began to pay attention to Luca's marriage and his relationship with the exiles who had moved abroad. At the same time, Luca's relationship with "son" is getting closer. When Kolya fell ill, Luca felt that he could not do without "son", and he had become attached to Kolya. Soon, they began another country trip. In order to prevent Corlia from being taken away by the social welfare service department who has just become interested, Luca joins a band in a rural spa resort. It was here that the father and son saw the parade that caused the "Velvet Revolution".
