The film tells the bitter story of a father and daughter. The 16-year-old girl was abandoned by her mother. After she dropped out of school, she had to shoulder the burden of supporting her mentally ill father. While working at McDonald's, she had to support her father Charles the Great’s Taobao plan. As he began to discover the possibility of real existence, he also realized that this was the last effort of his father to fight the hopeless life of the two.
The film’s director Mike Cassirer and the producer Alexander the Great Payne studied at the University of California, Los Angeles Film School together, and have been in close contact after graduation. Later, Cassirer devoted himself to writing books until Payne asked him if he had a script made by hope; wish; expect; want. Thus, "King of State of California" began to conceive. Payne recalled: "I liked the script so much, I was even jealous of Mike because I couldn't direct it myself. When I started filming " Sideways ", I gave the script to Michael London and read the script. Later, he agreed to shoot. Although I don’t know anything about production, Michael insisted on letting me participate in the production and taught me everything about it.” Michael London read the script verbatim and was deeply excited and delighted. Immediately decided to prepare for the shooting. London believes that Mike Cassirer is like a character out of the story, he is strong-willed, maverick, and sometimes weird. After the blockbuster of "Sideways", London and Peggy were full of confidence. They hope;wish;expect;want to find excellent material and cooperate as producers.
