Originally, the crew thought that New Zealand was the ideal filming location for Skull Island in the film, but after walking into the New Zealand rainforest, they found that there was no different from the scenes in other films and did not have the dangerous terrain required in the story, so the crew decided to build it manually. Weta’s special effects technicians finally completed 53 miniature sets and models, the most detailed of which is the miniature rainforest composed of 104,000 artificial leaves, 4,500 vines, 25,000 miniature plants and 220 miniature trees, and the largest miniature The landscape is 38 meters long, 5.2 meters wide and 5.5 meters high. When designing the ancient creatures on Skull Island, the main creators deliberately deviated from reality and injected more fantasy and fictional elements. This effect is best reflected in the scenes of Thunder Dragon running away and King Kong fighting three Tyrannosaurus. Each dinosaur model used for digital scanning takes 1500 hours to complete.
