Harrison Ford once rejected the role of the leading actor, while William Hurt refused without even reading the script.
Dr. Hammond is Richard Attenborough’s first film role in fifteen years.
In the first draft of the screenplay, Dr. Hammond was left on the island.
The shots of the whole body of the dinosaurs in the film are all computer-made, but the partial shots still use models. Models of tyrannosaurus rex weigh between 13,000 and 15,000 pounds. When shooting the attack in the rain at the beginning of the film, the latex on the surface of the model absorbs water, making it more heavy and difficult to control. The technicians had to work overnight to squeeze the water out. In the end, they simply put a shed on the head of Tyrannosaurus outside the camera to block the rain.
There was originally a shot of a child riding a triceratop. The special school teachers spent a year on this shot, but in the end the shot was cut out because Spielberg felt it would affect the rhythm of the film.
The little dinosaur that broke out of the egg was originally planned to be a triceratops, but was eventually replaced by a velociraptor (velociraptor, which was the species that later chased the children in the kitchen).
Many mistakes in the film were finally modified by computer, including making the stuntman's face more like an actor, and the Ford Explorer in a scene was made entirely by computer.
The part about Tyrannosaurus rex at the end of the film was added because the production team and composer John Williams believed that Tyrannosaurus rex was the hero in the film.
In order to simulate Gallimimus-like movements, digital artists put their hands on their chests and ran on a road with obstacles.
After the shooting, Spielberg was quite relieved of the film. He handed over the post-production to George Lucas and immediately invested in the shooting of "Schindler's List".
Juliet Binoche gave up the opportunity to play Dr. Steller and starred in "Blue Love Pick".
On September 11, 1992, a hurricane hit Kauai Island and affected the filming schedule.
Ariana Richards was very sad when she learned that her character was not made into a doll (the Kenner company made a total of 6 figures), and it is said that she cried.
Arena Richards became very interested in dinosaurs after the filming. In the following summer, she also assisted Jack Horner, a paleontology consultant and the source of Dr. Grant's image, in Montana. Dinosaur excavation work.
Some T-shirts, dinosaurs, and props in the film are designed to be sold as peripheral products in the future.
Until the release of "Titanic" in 1997, the film maintained a record for the highest box office.
In the film, the sound of Tyrannosaurus rex biting like a chicken dragon is actually made by a dog biting a toy.
Both the film and the original novel triggered a climax for the students to learn about paleontology, but it was a flash in the pan, making this climax a record.
Universal bought the copyright for $2 million before the original novel was published.
