John Rabe Negative Reviews

2022-01-22 08:03
"John HD Rabe Diary" is a commercial film of mediocre quality. Its foothold is the universal feelings in the hearts of Westerners, and this feeling and Nanjing Massacre have made Chinese people feel heartbroken every time they mention it for 60 years. When the national catastrophe is combined, the narrative of "John HD Rabe's Diary" appears superficial and one-sided. The Film Bureau has always been strict in censoring foreign films that involve China, but it has given the green light to such films that devalue or even vilify the Chinese to highlight the posture of the savior of the West. It is really puzzled. After all, the Chinese people in the film only reacted in panic, blind obedience, selfishness, and ignorance in the face of the massacre. They seemed to exist specifically to cause trouble to John HD Rabe and others. They were purely a group of lambs waiting to be rescued by the West   .

The lack of force in portraying the Holocaust makes the film a legendary warmth. But considering that he is a German screenwriter and director, it is logical.

The tears were blurred many times, and the tears were streaming down his face twice. The first time was when the war broke out, Labela raised a flag to protect the civilians, and the second time was his departure. What moved me most about this movie was not Rabe but the foreigners whose names I didn't remember, especially the doctor, who was so cute. War is cruel, but there is still tenderness in the cruelty. Thank these humanitarian foreigners for their kind deeds for the Chinese.

John Rabe quotes

  • Colonel Nakajima Kesago: He disobeyed the rules by not staying in the car.

John Rabe: He didn't stay in the car? His head was cut off!

Colonel Nakajima Kesago: It was an honorable death. A contest between two officers. Very popular in Japan.

    John Rabe: What contest?

Colonel Nakajima Kesago: Who decapitates the most enemies.

  • John Rabe: To the Führer of the German people. Chancellor Adolf Hitler. My Führer. As a loyal party member and upstanding German. I turn to you in a time of great need. The Japanese Imperial troops conquered the city of Nanking on December 12, 1937. Since then I have witnessed atrocious crimes against civilians. Please help to end this catastrophe and make an appeal to our Japanese allies in the name of humanity. With a German salute.
