Jérémy Clapin’s directorial debut "J'ai perdu mon corps" intertwined the narratives of the two stories of romantic love between men and women and the attempt to return to the body with a broken hand   . The whole film has a seemingly random and intricate narrative structure. But in fact, they have been carefully designed by the screenwriter   to present the emotional journey of traumatized people and hands in the form of two-dimensional animation. When the body and the severed hand are finally reconnected, "J'ai perdu mon corps" forms a complete cycle, connecting the psychological and physical trauma of the protagonist Laufir. The severed hand is both physical and metaphorical. Sexual. The film is aesthetically surreal. It successfully humanizes a bloody severed hand and elevates this absurd concept into a film worth watching   .

In fact, the hand part has almost nothing to do with the theme of the movie that reflects the emotions of the protagonist, it is just a gimmick

The angle is rather curious, and it feels very cult. In fact, he is a frustrated male protagonist. When he was a child, he killed his parents in a car accident. When he grew up, he couldn't do anything well. It would be ridiculous if such an animation can win an Oscar by hitting a fly.

I Lost My Body quotes

  • Naoufel: Do you believe in fate? No, seriously.

Gabrielle: That everything is written in advance? That we follow a trajectory?

    Naoufel: Yeah

Gabrielle: And that we can't change anything?

Naoufel: We think that we can, but we can't. It's an illusion. Unless we do... Something completely unpredictable and irrational. It's the only way to conjure the spell for good.

  • Gabrielle: Once you've dribbled past fate, what do you do?

Naoufel: You try to keep away from it. You run blindly... and keep your fingers crossed.
