The original expectation of "Gegen die Wand" was buried by a deep sense of loss. Faith Akin described the life conditions of two Turkish immigrants in the lower class of Germany between tradition and reality. Although the reality is true, they are depraved and corrupt. The gloomy and unproactive pursuit of the hero and heroine makes it difficult for people to sympathize with their tragic ending. Faith Akin overly focused on the emotional entanglement between the two and failed to explore their due diligence for their status in society, making the theme of the film seem superficial and not deep enough.
