This is a family of actors. Both parents are actors and all three daughters are actors. The eldest sister Hannah is a talented actress, and her husband is the timid rock star agent Eliot. The second sister, Holly, is also an actor, but her talents are average, and her temperament is irritable and a little nervous, so she is not very successful in her career, and even has a world-weary mood. Hannah’s little sister Li and her teacher Frederick live together. Frederick is an arrogant artist. He is not only getting old, but because he is obsessed with art, he is not in the world. As a result, Li became almost the only contact between Fredery and the outside world.
Elliott fell in love with the young, beautiful and sexy Li, and they had a relationship without Hannah. Li left Frederick, but Eliot couldn't make up his mind to break up with Hannah. Holly and a female friend jointly ran a small shop, but the friend robbed the shop and the man from the shop, and Holly was on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Hannah’s ex-husband, Mickey, is the director of the TV station. He always feels depressed that he has a tumor. When he learns that he is healthy, he decides to treat life again. He quit his job at the television station, became obsessed with religion, and finally found meaning in life in a comedy starring the Max Brothers.
Li couldn't face Hannah, and tired of Eliot's hesitation, so she fell in love with another man. Hannah also felt that the relationship between Elliott and Li was abnormal, and at this time Elliott realized that she actually loved Hannah. Holly gave up her acting career, but showed her talent in script creation and got Mickey's love   .

Hannah and Her Sisters quotes

  • Elliot: It's hard to be around someone who gives so much and - and needs so little in return!

  • Norma: Hannah, can I tell everybody you're gonna play Desdemona?

Hannah: Oh, Mom, it's only television.

Norma: It's public television. To me, Shakespeare doesn't get any greater than Othello. You with some big black stud. I love it!
