Harvard journalism student Matt (Elijah Wood) was expelled from the school because his roommate was hiding drugs in his closet. The helpless Matt could not contact his father in Kabul, so he had to pack up and go to his sister in London.
The brother-in-law Steve was very unfriendly and gave Matt to his younger brother Pete (Charlie Hunnam). Pete is the leader of the West Ham United fan organization GSE. He quickly let the Yankee Matt see the blood of British fans. The cowardice in Matt disappeared with his fist thrown at the opponent fans, and Pete allowed him to gradually integrate into this environment full of beer and violence.
GSE member Paowa is extreme and has always been hostile to Matt. When he found that Matt and Matt's father were related to the journalist status most hated by the fan organization, he wanted to expel Matt at all costs. At this time, Matt is surprised to find that his brother-in-law is the former leader of GSE. Outside the tavern, a violent conflict between fans is brewing.

Need to write some serious comments: maybe each of us can reach such a high level of football fanaticism. In fact, we are all gentle football hooligans, we just need to stand side by side with our partners and sing our songs forever. I really like Pete. Sometimes they are not just the cute football hooligans on the surface.

Football can grow, so can football hooligans, there is no need to be hooligans.

Green Street Hooligans quotes

  • Matt Buckner: I've never lived closer to danger, but I've never felt safer. I've never felt more confident, and people could spot it from a mile away. And as for this, the violence? I gotta be honest - it grew on me. Once you've taken a few punches and realize you're not made of glass, you don't feel alive unless you're pushing yourself as far as you can go.

  • [last lines]

Matt Buckner: [singing] I'm forever blowing bubbles / Pretty bubbles in the air / They fly so high / They reach the sky / And like my dreams they fade and die / Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere / I'm forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air. / United! United!
