In 1955, in the East Brooklyn district of New York City, middle school student Henry grew up disgusted with studying, but he aspired to become a gang member and lived a life of air. He played truant for gangsters and caused trouble everywhere. Once, he was arrested for trafficking in smuggled cigarettes, but insisted not to disclose his accomplices to the police. His approach was appreciated by the godfather of the gang, Pauli Ciceno, and since then he officially joined the gang and became the backbone.
Henry and his accomplices Jimmy and Tommy organized robberies and murders and operated various illegal businesses. Under Tommy's introduction, Henry met Karen, a girl born in a middle-class family, and they soon fell in love and got married.
Billy, the gang leader, offends Tommy, who has a grumpy character. Tommy, together with Jimmy and Henry, secretly killed Billy and destroyed his body. Soon afterwards, Henry and Jimmy were arrested and imprisoned for beating their debtors. Karen told Henry when visiting the prison with the children that the Mafia did not take care of them as promised. In order to solve the livelihood of his family, Henry started a drug deal in prison.
In 1980, Henry, after being released from prison, planned a huge robbery with his old accomplices Tommy and Jimmy. The six million dollars in stolen money caused disputes within the gang, and the police began a large-scale search. Many participants were arrested, and Tommy was also executed by the Mafia for assassinating Billy. The desperate Henry had to go to the godfather Pauli, but he was ruthlessly rejected.
Henry could not escape the police chase, so he had to surrender. In the court, he saw through the hypocrisy of the gangsters and revealed the whereabouts of Paulie, Jimmy and others. In order to protect the safety of witnesses, the FBI sent Henry secretly to a place in Canada. Henry started a new life after changing his name and surname.
