The title of the film comes from the iconic words of Edward Morrow, a pioneer in the American news broadcasting industry who dissatisfied with McCarthyism, when he stopped broadcasting activities and paid out of his pocket to expose McCarthy's headline when he advertised in the "New York Times"
.
Clooney has always wanted to make the experience of idol Edward R. Moreau into a movie, but he did not intend to make the movie a pure biography, so he chose a political turmoil that attracted worldwide attention in the 1950s in the United States. The background allows the characters to be the carriers to present the changes in history and the television industry. For the sake of accuracy, Clooney invited the naval pilot Mellowe who was persecuted by McCarthy, the wife and two sons of producer Fred, and two reporters from Morrow's team to discuss the script
