Girl, Interrupted Creative background

In 1967, 17-year-old Susanna Kaysendue to mental runaway was sent to a mental hospital for a year and a half ago, this painful psychological process later she wrote the autobiographical novel "Girl, Interrupted", and Published in 1993. Shortly after the novel was published, Winona Reid had read this novel and was deeply attracted by it. Because Winona Reid suffered from insomnia and anxiety when she was 19 years old, she also went to a mental hospital for treatment. In the same year, the Columbia company bought the rights to film the novel. Winona Reid took the initiative to ask for the role of the heroine and was allowed to produce the film as a producer. However, the selection of the director did not go well until 1999. In 1988, James Mangold was selected to direct the film, and the film was successfully filmed.
