The animation "Ghost in the Shell" released in 1995 is a classic masterpiece of Oshii Mamoru . The videotape of the film became the best-selling animated audio-visual product in the United States, and it influenced a group of Hollywood filmmakers, including the famous Wachowski brothers, the father of "The Matrix" .
"Ghost in the Shell 2.0" is an evolutionary version of the old work. There is no change in the plot, but the thorough use of the latest digital technology makes it glow with brand-new charm and shocking audio-visual effects. Part of the footage of the film was remade into 3DCG, with delicate and gorgeous pictures; all the soundtrack was remixed and recorded by Kawai Kenji , using 6.1-channel technology; and the sound effects were produced by Skywalker Sound in the United States. The character dubbing has also been re-recorded, and the seiyuu lineup basically follows the original cast, only the "humanoid ambassador" has been replaced by Sakura Yoshiko.
The new version of Ghost Shell is shown in five designated theaters in Japan's five major cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo), creating momentum for Oshii’s latest masterpiece " Sukai Crowra " to be released in August .
