The film successfully sketched the reality of the future, and presented a melancholy future world before the audience. The film has a strong predictability. When the audience turns their eyes from the film back to reality, it is not difficult to find that the development of technology is driving the real world to the technological but dehumanizing future. Geneticism-avoiding this kind of thought to rule the world is an important issue before us.
The film expresses a critique of geneticism through metaphorical images: Jerome drags his unconscious lower limbs to climb upstairs, the spiral staircase is like the illusion of the human gene chain. In addition, the film’s dialogue, narration, and music are quite distinctive.
"Variants of Different Sha" was on the Golden Globe and Oscar nomination lists successively that year, which is an affirmation of the uniqueness and transcendence of the film. Defined as a sci-fi thriller, "Variation of the Evil", starting from the story, is more like a literary inspirational film that explores the value of human life. It refutes the cruel genetic determinism and praises the unyielding life under the law of the weak and the strong; but from the ideological appeal Starting with it is like a warning fable about the harm caused by technology beyond ethics, trying to tell people how to deal with technology and think about the boundaries between technology and natural society.

Vincent: [voiceover] For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home.
