On June 22, 1941, in the park on the east bank of the Bug River, a military band played cheerful songs, men and women of all ages danced and played, everything was so peaceful and peaceful. The chasing children, the men and women in love, and the dancing teenagers outline the unparalleled charm of this town. When people were immersed in sweet dreams, the German commandos, dressed as Soviet troops, launched a raid. The sound of a cannon tore through the quiet town, and the screams of people scattered with the collapsed houses and flying rubble. The panicked mother lost the child, the frightened livestock fled around, and the war came without warning.
The Brest Fortress is an important transportation link between Warsaw and Moscow. It is of great strategic significance. In the siege of hordes of tanks and well-equipped German troops, the 8,000 brave Soviet Red Army suffered from shortages of weapons, mixed formations, and huge sacrifices. Under the circumstances, stick to the faith and defend the motherland. During the battle, the regimental commander and political commissar took the lead. They commanded calmly in the counterattack, encouraging the panicked soldiers to ignite their fighting spirit, forming a combat team of soldiers of different formations, and stubbornly defending the fortress position. On the other side, a German team broke into the fortress. During the search and advancing, they encountered the border guards led by the Red Army lieutenant. The Red Army soldiers carried bayonet rifles, or danced with engineering spades, iron rods and even kitchen knives. The fearless spirit killed and wounded the German army everywhere and fled.
Due to the disparity in power between the two sides and the lack of weapons, coupled with the delay in the appearance of reinforcements, the fighters of Breites faced a battle that was almost impossible to win. But they had no fear in the face of German tanks, used all kinds of things that could be called "weapons" to resist, and their strong desire to defend their homeland repelled the German invaders again and again.
The garrison of the Brest Fortress had no external reinforcements and no effective command inside. The self-organization after the panic alone and a lone army confronted it alone, causing the German army dozens of times its own to pay a heavy price. On the 30th day of the war, the Brest garrison that started the battle still stood by and sent the message "This is a fortress, fighting" to the rear headquarters until all the soldiers were killed.
