The film was originally scheduled to be released in the United States on January 9, 2004. In June 2003, Fox and Warner discovered that they had made two films with the same title and the same subject. The difference is that Warner’s film depicts the president’s daughter sneaking to Europe to play in order to avoid protection and seek freedom. The two films are also scheduled to be released on January 9, 2004. So the two companies negotiated urgently. After several setbacks, Warner finally renamed their film "Presidential Daughter's Travels", and Fox also made concessions and changed the "First Daughter" to September 2004.
