"First Cow" is a film describing the history of the American West. It goes against tradition in the hands of female director Kelly Reichardt. It is quiet and delicate, plain and melancholy, like a thin bow that draws out a slow and full chant. Many stories are magnificent or intense, supported by a very full structure. In this film, "slow" lengthens the time, but "fine" fills up this part of time in a certain sense. The audience not only saw the history from the film, but also saw the life in the history.
