Fellini Satyricon movie plot

In Rome in the first century AD, Encolpio and his classmate Ascilto were arguing over the ownership of the boy Gitone. They divided their belongings and planned to go their separate ways. The boy could choose who to follow, and he chose Ascilto. Encolpio, who had decided to commit suicide, survived a sudden earthquake. Following a series of adventures that took place on Encolpio, director Fellini used an almost comic style to present his fantasy life in ancient Rome to the audience, without criticizing or applauding the morality of the film. No wonder he made a statement before the filming that "Satiricon" will not be an ancient history film, but a science fiction film. The whole plot is fragmented, involving many customs of ancient Rome, especially the customs of morality, sexuality, diet and performance at that time, which can be called the "men and women of diet" in ancient Rome.

Downright, hopeless CINEMA. How exactly does one explain the thrill of facing a Fellini film? This pleasure comes from the abundance of the world as a gigantic plain, and you greedily swept through every horn like a hurricane, and those stubborn stones imprisoned by definitions and taboos crumbled, releasing a treasure trove that was just around the corner. A language of absolute freedom comes first from nothingness, empties itself into a bottomless pocket, waiting to be filled, without crumpling itself to pieces it is impossible to welcome the world with its primitive chaos, and Ferry The road to nothingness, though full of crises, is precisely because of this greed and blessing, because he knows too well that if he wants to be the huge appetite that is constantly reaping everything from the world, what he should do is not to ask for it, but to ask for it. It is the fearless opening to the black hole.

    The Pasoliniization of Fellini

Fellini Satyricon quotes

  • Encolpio: Ascilto... what does the poet say? Each moment presented may be your last, so fill it up until you vomit... or something such?

  • Soldier at Tomb: They've stolen the hanged man! While I was with you, the thief's family took him away! I know what punishment I'll get... a horrible death. Why should I wait for it? I'd rather die by my own hands.

[pulls his sword out and is about to stab himself]

Wife of Ephesus: [stops him] No! No, my dear... To lose the two men in my life, one after the other, would be too much...

Wife of Ephesus: [looks at the corpse of her husband] Better to hang a dead husband than to lose a living lover.

[the couple replace the missing hanged corpse with the corpse of her husband]
