The film’s character prototype Ted Bundy was born in Burlington in 1946, and his father’s true identity is still a mystery. He was regarded as an extremely smart and social student during his college years. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in psychology in 1972, and then entered the University of Utah to study law. While attending school in Washington, some female neighbors in Seattle began to disappear. Various reports confirmed that they were all witnessed with Bundy. When he went to Utah, the same incident happened one after another. In 1975, he was stopped by the police, and crowbars, ropes, masks, handcuffs and other items were found in the car. The serial murder case gradually spread.
In 1992, the U.S. Department of Justice released a report documenting a large number of criminal incidents in Bundy. Before approaching the victims, he will make extensive and careful preparations, including purchasing necessary materials, predicting their flight status, preparing excuses, and investigating and disposing of the site. He sometimes pretends to be wounded or law enforcement police officers to lure women, take them to the car, and then drag the victims to the surveyed dump/warehouse, strangle them after raping them, and then dispose of the bodies.
Bundy was arrested and imprisoned three times. He successfully escaped the first two times and continued to act afterwards. At that time, he also completely denied what he had done. It was years later that Bundy admitted that he killed 30 women in 7 states between 1973 and 1978. The true number of victims is not yet clear, and it is likely to be much higher than 30.
On January 24, 1989, Bundy was sentenced to death in the electric chair at the Florida State Penitentiary
