The film is based on a teenager novel of the same name written by Jamaican writer Nicola Yoon. Because of a rare disease, the girl Madeleine has been living in a sterile glass house, and she has been dreaming about the outside world. When he was eighteen years old, a teenager moved next door. He had honey-colored skin and only wore black clothes. He would have a dimple when he laughed. He was so free, like the sunshine of Hawaii, he let Madeleine know that what she read from the book was an illusory life.
