Mr. Hoppy's ( Dusin Hoffman ) retirement life is seemingly mundane, consisting of tending to the garden on the balcony, wandering from home to the store and back home. But beneath these calm surfaces, he has a passionate and hopeless crush on Mrs. Silver ( Judith Olivia Dench ) , his neighbor downstairs .
Retired bachelor Mr Hoppy has a crush on his neighbour Mrs Silver, who only has feelings for her pet turtle.
Their first encounter was in a crowded elevator. By then he had been completely fascinated by her cheerfulness and enthusiasm, which he always forgot to tell her, even though they often stood on their balconies and chatted with each other as neighbors.
Mr. Hoppy found that Mrs. Silver was upset that her pet tortoise was not growing up, and he hoped that he could take this opportunity to make her happy, and the relationship between the two might become closer.
