Edge of Tomorrow Visual effect as a secondary plot to win

2021-10-13 18:32
The director's mastery of the rhythm of action films shown in "Smiths" and "The Bourne" has made "Edge of Tomorrow" almost no cold scene in the nearly two-hour studio. And because it started as a comedy in the first place, the film also naturally incorporates many comedy segments, which makes people re-recognize Tom Cruise's talent as a laughter. Compared with other summer blockbusters featuring visual effects, predecessor word-of-mouth, and star lineup, the biggest highlight of "Edge of Tomorrow" lies in its sophisticatedly conceived story. Doug Liman has always advocated "making an independent spiritual film with a commercial film shell", which can be described to the extreme in "Edge of Tomorrow". However, the challenge of the film is that the marketing aspect is still easy to be positioned by the audience as another brainless popcorn movie. (Review)
