At the beginning of the 20th century, we were about to go through the angry and roaring 1920s and usher in the vacillating 1930s. The young Englishman John Witkeplayedfell madly in love with an American girl named Lalitaplayed. She is so sexy, glamorous, charming, and open-minded. The two got married soon and couldn't wait.
However, when the newlyweds returned to the Witke family’s big house in the UK, John’s mother, Mrs. Witke, looked critically at his new daughter-in-law from top to bottom. Once again, there was a very strong dislike immediately. Mr. Witkeplayeddid not react much to his son’s "flash marriage", but in this family, he obviously has no real status, so naturally There is no right to speak.
Aware of her mother-in-law’s hostility, Lalita chose to improvise and put away her freedom-advocating edge. For the beloved man, she tried every means to integrate into this somewhat old-fashioned traditional British family, but she found herself in frustration. The "minefield" laid by her mother-in-law was like walking on thin ice, but she was cautious but could not get corresponding response and equal treatment.
Slowly, Lalita finally understood the purpose of Mrs. Witke. The reason why she set up a trap so in vain was to separate herself and John. From this point of view, it would not be Lalita's mother-in-law to be submissive. Well, if she doesn't want to lose John, her only option is to fight back.
Mrs. Witke became more and more intensified. She used all her wisdom to start a "battle" full of conflicts. Mrs. Witke has mastered all the advantageous forms in order to destroy her son's marriage which made her dissatisfied. But Lalita was incredibly calm, cleverly avoiding more and more direct attacks from her mother-in-law. Soon after, Mrs. Witke's obstruction was effective between John and Lalita, and their love was on the verge of collapse at any time. In the end, when Lalita's past secrets were ruthlessly revealed, she felt that she was really fed up and she was leaving this suffocating house to find her own freedom
