The film is pure and clever. It tells all kinds of interesting stories about American junior high school students in school and family life. It makes the audience of children of the same age happy to watch; its laughter is set cleverly and interestingly, just right, so that most adult audiences Smile knowingly.
The film takes the little kid’s favorites as the theme, and depicts the growth and emotional troubles of junior high school students in a humorous plot. The little boy uses graffiti to write a diary to express his ignorant mental journey.
The film portrays the child's "tragic" middle school life as an interesting growth adventure. The film is told in the tone of the protagonist Gray's private journal, accompanied by humorous cartoon illustrations. The film adopts a live-action animation shooting mode, respecting the style of the original novel.
