"Den of Thieves" is an old-school action gunfight film that is permeated with a strong and natural smell of gunpowder. It shows the beauty of the original ecology from the roughness, and it is quite distinctive. But it appeared at the end. Suddenly the audience discovered that the identity of the culprit had changed, and there were even tricks that had not been noticed. Even though the previous plot seems to be paving the way, the 180-degree turn still makes it difficult for the audience to accept. Because the whole film had been unfolding in a natural and rough style before, suddenly the ending became a way to reveal the mystery of the story. However, there was no taste of a suspenseful film before, and the director made a lot of jokes with the audience here. After 2 hours of hard work to create a realistic atmosphere, the human species' surrounding environment was suddenly replaced by cheap plot and consternation. Even though the plot can barely justify itself, the change of style still caught the audience off guard.
If you don't have more expectations, the film is still available in many police and criminal films because of its old-school style and roughness. Even if you admire the muscularity of many male actors, or the realistic street shootout, it is quite impressive. It's just the plot, don't be more realistic. If the screenwriter is not witty enough, no matter how the plot is designed, it is deliberate rather than sophisticated.
