When John was 23 years old, he stopped entering high school after graduating from high school. He changed job after job all day long without knowing why. He spent the rest of his life drinking and having fun in the bar, but he never saw true love. Until one day, he resolutely joined the army, and when he returned home from the holiday, under the sun and on the beach in his hometown, he accidentally met Shavina, who was just in the Mood for Love.
The 21-year-old Savina’s growth background is far from that of John. She is different from John’s unruly appearance. She is simple, kind, and honest, has firm ideas and beliefs, and has clear and definite goals. Through Savina, John re-recognizes himself and loves again. The sweet time is always short. John must return to the army and even be sent overseas. As time passed day by day, this long-distance love affair, which was maintained by letters and occasionally met, was finally brought to an end with a parting letter from Savina. John, who was in a heartbreaking desperate situation, took out the entire box of letters in his collection and burned it in the fire of the barracks.
Later, John was injured on the battlefield. After he recovered, he chose to continue his service. However, because his father was critically ill, John went home to visit, and went to Shavenna's house to find that they were already wrong. Shavena and his neighbor Tim had become lovers, and Tim was already seriously ill at this time. Later, the two had dinner together at Shavenna’s house. At this time, Shavenna couldn’t help but vomited the pain of living alone and the hardship at the time. When they parted, Shavenna said goodbye soon, and experienced the war. The living and dead John hesitated for a long time, did not give the same answer as before, just said goodbye. He sold all the coins his father had collected during his lifetime, leaving only one wrong coin. The money he got was donated to Tim anonymously, which gave him time to say goodbye to his family. John returned to the battlefield. Later, it was learned from Savannah's letter that Tim had taken the last time of his life to say goodbye to his friends. In the end, the two hug each other in front of the coffee shop. After the war and parting, a pair of lovers finally came together.
