In Jamusch's films, "Dead Man" explores the deep meaning of death in a fearless and lyrical way, which best represents his perception of this society.
The film is like a meditational sketch, its charm is due to Robbie Muller's black and white photography, Neil Young's exquisite and simple guitar soundtrack, Depp's polite and poetic performance-he lay down Holding the dead deer, this scene is quite representative. The performances of those peculiar supporting roles supported the slightly thin scenes of the plot.
The narration and violence in the film are monotonous and flat, especially the perverse and almost neurotic behavior of the cold-blooded killer Cole Wilson. The silence that fills the void of the Great West, the silver-white birch trees that pass by William as he rides through the woods, the pragmatic manner of "no one" when he performs an obscure ritual to William who is not so conscious. Attitude will evoke the audience's memories of unrelated people, places, and moments.

It's a road movie and an adventure movie. The phrase "Have you ever thought of yourself becoming the moon?" is also Jarmusch's philosophy, and all travel has an end, but death is nothing more, like Jarmusch's style People will also like the erratic emotions and elusive lines in his films. It is rare to be able to maintain this coolness in a lifetime, isn't it?

When I watched it, I didn’t know who Jamush was, but I was fascinated by Johnny Depp. Now I am a fan of Jamush.

Dead Man quotes

  • [first lines]

Train Fireman: Look out the window. And doesn't this remind you of when you were in the boat, and then later than night, you were lying, looking up at the ceiling, and the water in your head was not dissimilar from the landscape, and you think to yourself, "Why is it that the landscape is moving, but the boat is still?"

  • Trading Post missionary: God damn your soul to the fires of Hell!

    William Blake: He already has.
