The film reflects the threats posed by the terrifying forces of nature to human society, focusing on the beautiful emotions of people in difficult situations and the mutual assistance between humans and animals after disasters. These can be regarded as the highlights of the film. But on the whole, the story structure of the film is average, the special effects are barely pass, and the performances of Brosnan and Hamilton are rarely brilliant. On the whole, it can only be regarded as a satisfactory popcorn movie.
"Dante's Peak" is a bland disaster film, with outdated narrative techniques and nothing special. The plot of town officials pursuing profit and ignoring the disaster, obviously imitating "Jaws" more than 20 years ago, but It is far inferior to the latter in character depiction. After the eruption, the halo on the protagonists was too deliberate and obvious. Although Brosnan worked very hard, the film did not give him the opportunity to give full play to his acting skills.
