After finishing a week of filming in Moscow, the crew returned to the studio in Los Angeles to shoot. In February, the whole class rushed to Fiji, and the hard work has just begun. As early as June 1998, the main creative staff began to search for a suitable desert island, and finally found the deserted Monu-riki island in the northwestern part of the Fiji Islands. Monu-riki is a volcanic island, only 99 acres in size, and you can walk around the whole island within 2 and a half hours. The unique topography, pristine beaches and coconut groves are the charm of the island.
Getting permission to shoot on the island has gone through a complicated and long process. It not only requires patience, but also studies local customs and habits to win the favor of the island owner. In the filming contract drawn up with the Fijians, the environmental management code was also included. During the entire filming period on the small island, an environmentalist was responsible for the entire supervision.
