The Friedmans were Jewish people living in the suburbs of New York City. Their father, Arnold, was a well-known computer professor there, well respected by his students and colleagues. Mother Elaine runs the house, and three children, David, Seth and Jesse, never make trouble. They lead a wealthy middle-class life, seemingly peaceful and happy on the surface. However, happiness is as fragile as a soap bubble floating on water, and this seemingly peaceful family is torn apart by sudden court charges. Pornographic magazines were found in the home, which led to court allegations of child abuse. In the end, the father with pedophile tendencies was thrown into prison, and the younger son was not spared, and was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the same crime. The dull and honest father committed suicide in prison by taking drugs, and the youngest son was finally released from prison, but that happy family no longer exists
