Director Dexter Fletcher withdrew from the film due to "creative differences" and was directed by director Brian Singer. However, in December 2017, with two weeks left to complete, Brian Singer was fired from the crew for leaving his job without authorization, and Dexter Fletcher was hired to direct the remaining two weeks of filming and post-production for the film. The Directors’ Guild of America recognized Brian Singer as the sole director of the film, so Dexter Fletcher’s name was not added to the list of directors of the film.
Sasha Byron Cohen and Ben Wishshaw were both protagonists for the film, but in the end Rami Marek was the winner.
Mike Myers cameo in the movie as a record company executive who thinks "Bohemian Rhapsody" will not be popular. In fact, he is a fan of Queens, and he insisted on using this song in 1992's "Most Stars" .
The film’s singing is not purely derived from the prototype Freddy Mercury, but is a synthesis of the singing of the leading actors Rami Marek, Canadian rock singer Mark Marteller and Freddie Mercury.
In order to emulate the voice of Leddy Mercury, Rami Marek asked an accent teacher to analyze Freddy’s accent in daily life based on Freddy’s mother’s accent.
Although most of the time during the filming was fake playing, Joseph Mezzero and Gwillim, who played the guitarists, continued to practice every day during the six months of shooting, so as not to let the audience pick out fingering mistakes. And Ben Hardy, who plays the drummer, basically spends 10 hours a day practicing drumming.
