Cruelty and evil, "Blast of Silence" brought a moving surprise to the audience. This low-budget film tells the story with a precise mechanical narrative. The film also presents the eccentric lifestyle of the modern urban crowd and the haunting New York cityscape in an unconventional audiovisual way. Visually, the deliberately created rough black and white images form a real and rough atmosphere. The icy black and white images paired with icy jazz music make people shudder with fear.
The lonely killer, the lonely street, the cold trumpet, the erratic cold rain, and the unknown encounter are all condensed in the 77-minute video. Director Allen Baron brings the characters to life with a sharp visual language, and the audience unknowingly gives them empathy. The sympathy and sadness condensed in the strong contrasting picture, as well as the deep coldness in it, are like the fierce drum beats in the film constantly beating people's hearts
