Director Darren Aronowski believes that "Black Swan" and "Wrestler" are sister films.
There is a sex scene between two women in the film. In order to make Natalie Portman less embarrassed, Mila Kunis suggested that she drink a little alcohol before filming. So Portman drank a whole bottle of strong tequila. For the next day and a half, Portman had to fall on the bed drunk. In this regard, Aronofsky felt very guilty.
The crew first considered shooting the full film in Budapest, France and Hungary. But in the end this idea was abandoned due to budget issues.
The original script of the film is called "The Understudy" (The Understudy), and the story all takes place in the New York Grand Theater. Aronowski liked the script very much, but suggested that the story should be changed to the life of a ballerina.
