The story takes place in medieval England where the plague raged in 1348. Osmond ( Eddie Redmayne ), a young monk, is responsible for guiding the knight Jan Ullrich (Sean Bing) and his mercenaries to a village in a remote swamp. This village has not yet been attacked by Black Death. So shrouded in mystery. Jan Ullrich and his party came here to hunt down a pagan wizard who was rumored to be able to bring the dead back to life.
In this painful journey, Jan Ullrich's envoy found this village, a creepy utopia led by a beautiful witch Ranjiva ( Carice Anouk van Houten ). After she told Osment the secret of her heart, Osment was forced to make a choice between her beliefs and the survival of the village.
