American Splendor evaluation action

"American Splendor" is a somewhat weird movie, especially the starring performance is very outstanding   .
The heroic character depicted in this moment seems a bit weird, and does not conform to the heroic characteristics advocated in the mainstream of the United States. However, the film abandons the story narrative methods usually used in general films, so at this point, it is a good film   .
The film combines fictional and realistic shooting techniques, and cleverly combines the characteristics of two completely different media, comics and movies, to create a unique new style of film   .
If the life of comic writer Harvey Pekar is worth a movie, then anyone's life is worth a movie. But this is the real reason for "American Splendor", a dramatic film about Pekka's life, a special and valuable film. This is a humane and witty treatment of ordinary people's lives. By the way, it tells the value and inherent drama of ordinary people's lives. The film has a strong sense of language. Some viewers will regard the film as the story of a professional, but this kind of story is very common. However, the film is also rare to intersperse the marriage line of the hero and heroine. As the film shows, life in the United States is full of competition, harshness, and often lonely, but when two people really find each other, that's true glory   .

Giamatti has a sense of comedy and a sense of loser. Although it is a little bored overall, it is still worth watching.

American Splendor quotes

  • Harvey Pekar: Man, listen, I'll tell you something, people are starting to know the name Crumb. And when you croak, man, you're gonna leave something behind.

Robert Crumb: Yeah, I guess. Ha-ha. It's not like I'm Blind Lemon Jefferson or Big Mama Thornton.

Harvey Pekar: Oh, come on, man. I'll tell you something, it sure beats working a gig like mine, being a nobody flunky and selling records on the side for a buck.

    Robert Crumb: Well, that's true.

  • Harvey Pekar: Ever since I read your stuff, man, I been thinkin', I could write comic book stories that are different from anything that's being done. I figure, you know, that the guys that are doing animal comics and, eh, super hero stuff, they're really limited. 'Cause they got to try to appeal to kids. And underground stuff, like yours, have been really subversive and its opened things up politically. But, there's still plenty more to be done with them too, you know.

    Robert Crumb: Pass the ketchup.

Harvey Pekar: The words and pictures, they could be more of an art form. You know, like those French movies or, or, eh, or De Sica over in Italy. So, anyway, I just, I tried to, I tried to write you some stuff about - real life - you know, stuff that the everyman's got to deal with.

Robert Crumb: These are all about you?

    Harvey Pekar: Yeah.

Robert Crumb: You've turned yourself into a comic hero.
