American Psycho Positive Reviews of

"American Psychiatric" comes from the hands of a female director and is no longer so impactful. The avoidance of violent scenes in favor of the character's psychological portrayal makes the movie have a hint of Hitchcock-style suspense from beginning to end. For viewers who are too restrictive in life, watching the film is more like appreciating a comic strip than a thriller. Mary Harlan, a cold and humorous female director, made the film more like a black comedy. It seems that only coldness between people is more attractive, until the ruthlessness and separation, sorrow and distortion become interesting  .
The film is full of many crazy elements, such as the last climax movie, the male protagonist shoots with a gun, the police chasing after, the passing old woman, the old man at the door, all died under his gun, and may suddenly think of the similar title "Born Murderer" , The killing of the film is far from the scale of the end of the world in "Born Murderer". However, compared to the romantic stories of Feng Huaxueyue, stories like "American Psychiatric" are worth watching for friends who like to be stabbed and thoughtful when watching a movie  .
The charm of the Patrick Bateman murder scene in "American Psychiatric" is not the director's arrangement, but the scene itself is a shock to the audience. Before a person kills, he does not even forget to explain his musical experience to the other person. The film made people feel that the people who filmed it were all sick. The narrative of violent scenes gave way to the portrayal of the characters' psychology. This film became a thought-provoking portrayal of the era and a psychological inquiry into the United States in the 1980s  .

American Psycho quotes

  • Timothy Bryce: He makes himself out to be a harmless old codger, but inside... inside...

Patrick Bateman: [voice-over] ... "but inside" doesn't matter.

Craig McDermott: "Inside," yes, "inside... " - believe it or not, Bryce, we're actually listening to you...

Timothy Bryce: Come on, Bateman, what do you think?

    Patrick Bateman: Whatever.

  • [last lines]

Patrick Bateman: There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. My pain is constant and sharp, and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact, I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape. But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis; my punishment continues to elude me, and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.
