In the summer of 1962, high school graduates Kurtand Steveabout to go to the east coast of the United States to start their college life. On the last evening before leaving, they and their friend Johnand Terrymeet in the parking lot. Four ordinary young people gather in the evening to bid farewell to Kurt and Steve, who are about to go to university in other cities. Although Kurt received a scholarship, he still didn't want to leave his hometown to go to that strange city. On the contrary, Steve was full of expectations for a new life with uncertain future. As Steve's girlfriend, Kurt's sister Lauriedeeply confused about her boyfriend's departure. Steve hopes to break up as soon as possible so that the two can find another love.

Terry borrowed a car from Steve. He needed this car to find his love. After Steve gave his car to Terry, the four parted ways. When Kurt was wandering the street, he found a beautiful blonde woman driving a white Thunderbird. The beautiful woman quickly disappeared from the corner of the street, but Kurt couldn't forget. On the way to chase the blonde beauty, Kurt scratched the car of the Speeder Party. After some quarrel, Kurt got rid of the entanglement of the Speeder Party and immediately found the radio DJ, hoping to find the woman driving the Thunderbird car through the radio. At the same time, Terry met a beautiful woman Debbie. The two drove the car to the outskirts, but accidentally lost the borrowed car.
John is a racing car master, he accepted the challenge of rookie Bob, Terry and Steve also came to join in, and the girl sitting next to Bob is Laurie. Shortly after the start of the duel, Bob’s car plunged into the roadside ditch due to a puncture. Steve and Terry hurried to rescue. The dizzy Bob and Laurie got out in time before the car exploded. Laurie was tight. He grabbed Steve and told Steve not to leave her, and Steve, who was deeply moved, decided to abandon the trip.
Early the next morning, Kurt was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from the blonde. At the airport, Kurt said goodbye to relatives and friends and learned that Steve was preparing to study at the local technical school. When the plane took off, Kurt accidentally spotted the white Thunderbird with a smile on his face. In the end, John died in a car accident in December 1964. Steve became an employee of an insurance company. Terry who participated in the Vietnam War disappeared in December 1965, and Kurt moved to Canada to write for a living.
