This is the first time Kevin Costner has played the role of a villain, but his gangster image is quite decent, especially showing his star charm. And Clint Eastwood used a relatively low-key performance to set off Costner, so the whole film is more literary than popular action.
"A Perfect World" is a self-directed and self-acted work by Clint Eastwood. The film breaks through the rigid traditional mode of general robber movies. It focuses on discovering the multi-faceted character connotation of the characters, and creates multiple three-dimensional characters. The film is set in Texas in the 1960s, full of warmth but ended in tragedy.
"A Perfect World" complexly interweaves the characteristic elements of road films, western films and robber films, and has more artistic tension because of its thought-provoking social, moral, and educational ideological connotations.

No imaginary classic, Hollywood cliché. . .

The lack of father's love and kind nature have made this wonderful combination of the uncle fugitive and the cute baby hostage to produce a love that is not a father and a son but is better than a father and son. The progression of the emotional relationship on the road is very convincing. In a world that has never been perfect, the little boy has gained a near-perfect journey, with fatherly love, joy, trust, growing pains and longing for the future. The two-line narrative really slows down the rhythm. Dongmu and Laura Deng have a limited role, and they are more about enriching the character of the hero. This big boy with bruises and bruises can still have goodwill towards the world

A Perfect World quotes

  • Lucy: Oh, look - a friendly ghost! Say boo!

    Phillip Perry: Boo.

Lucy: Oh, well - not very scary. But you'll have a whole year to work on it, if your daddy lets you have it. It's a good price, too. What'd you go as this year?

Phillip Perry: [pulls back mask] A bandit.

  • Butch Haynes: You're truly the friendliest clerk I ever met.
